Instant token provisioning for contactless transaction processing

Digital issuance of cards allows issuers to give real-time account access to their customers, but the static CVV2 codes associated with those cards is not always available instantly.  With the use of the Visa dCVV2 Generate service, cardholders can request a dynamic CVV2, allowing for immediate usage of the account for online shopping – without the physical card.

Dynamic Codes Usage Scenario

Gerald is a new customer of the issuer, and has requested a card via the bank’s website.  The issuer approves his application and issues a new card.  The issuer also notifies Gerald that he can begin to use his card for online purchases immediately, by requesting a dynamic security code via the issuer’s mobile application.  Gerald installs the bank’s mobile app on his phone, and later, he goes online to shop for shoes. When it comes time to pay, he logs onto the bank’s mobile app and requests a dCVV2.  Gerald then enters in his card information on the merchant website, including the dCVV2 received from his issuer, and completes a successful Card Not Present transaction.

step 1

Open a New Credit Card Account

Gerald has just opened up a new credit card account via the issuer’s website. He is instantly approved for a card, and the bank instructs him to install their app on his mobile phone.

step 2

Use Card for Online Purchases Immediately

When Gerald installs and logs into the mobile app, he is notified that he can use his card for online purchases immediately – before he has received the plastic card. He watches a short video showing how to request a dynamic security code for online shopping.

step 3

Request and Receive a Dynamic Code

Later, Gerald is shopping online. When it is time to check out, Gerald accesses the issuer’s mobile app and follows the instructions to receive a dynamic security code.

step 4

Successfully Complete a Card Not Present Transaction

Gerald enters his account information – including the dCVV2 – into the merchant website and completes a successful Card Not Present transaction, before he has even received his physical card.
