In order to use Kernel in the Cloud, you will have two primary tasks
Once you have obtained access to the Kernel in the Cloud APIs on VDP, you can download the technical documentation, including specifications and integration guides from the Project Dashboard > Assets section.
Refer to the Kernel in the Cloud - Complete Onboarding Process Outline document available under Assets for a simple flow of all steps required to complete Kernel in the Cloud onboarding.
As the service provider, you will leverage the Kernel in the Cloud Thin Client SDK to enable your Merchant-facing UI/UX application to securely send transactions to Kernel in the Cloud, and receive the authorization response.
The Thin Client (TC) is used for securely connecting the payment instrument of the cardholder/consumer to the Kernel in the Cloud remote server. The Kernel in the Cloud performs the necessary EMV functionality to process payment transactions. The Thin Client has very limited functionality and is designed to be simple and generic in structure. It interfaces directly with a payment instrument (i.e. card, mobile, wearable…etc.), and all of the payment processing intelligence is based in the connected server—the Kernel in the Cloud.
Your Merchant-facing UI/UX application and the Thin Client will have multiple points of interaction and information transfer. For example, your Merchant-facing UI/UX application will trigger the Thin Client when it is ready to send a transaction to Kernel in the Cloud. The Thin Client will also return the authorization response to your Merchant-facing UI/UX application for display on the user interface to the end-merchant user.
To get started, refer to the Kernel in the Cloud - TC SDK User Guide available for download from the Project Dashboard > Assets section of any Kernel in the Cloud Project on VDP.
Kernel in the Cloud leverages four key APIs. As the service provider, you will need to call these APIs to create the kernel, merchant, and store profiles directly from your back-end server system.
An overview of the key functionality of each API is outlined below. For additional details and instructions, please refer to the KiC Integration Guides and the Thin Client Android SDK Specifications, which will be made available to you in the "Assets" section once you have gained access to Kernel in the Cloud APIs on VDP.
For more information about Kernel in the Cloud APIs and how to use them, refer to the Kernel in the Cloud - Integration Guide available for download from the Project Dashboard > Assets section of any Kernel in the Cloud Project on VDP.
