Visa Account Updater Push Subscribe Service

Enables clients who subscribe to accounts (PANs) to receive updates on account credentials.

Getting Started with VAU Push Subscribe Service

VAU Push Subscribe service is a new channel that complements existing VAU methods such as batch, API, and Real Time VAU. It offers the advantage of speed and efficiency by proactively delivering credential updates (“push”) when they change, rather than requiring acquirers to request for updates.

The VAU Push Subscribe Service consists of Inbound and Outbound APIs available through the Visa Developer Center (VDC) for acquirers/processors.

These APIs are available to support any acquirers enrolled in VAU. The service is optional and available to any acquirers/processors operating globally.

Components of Push Subscribe Service:

1. In-Bound Bundled Name: Visa Account Updater subscription API.

  • Subscription creation API: This service allows up to 100 PANs to be subscribed for updates within a single request. Upon validation, the Visa Account Updater (VAU) will supply new updates if available or return the appropriate rejection codes and messages.
  • Unsubscribe API: This service enables the unsubscription of PANs. It returns "Success" upon successful completion or provides error codes and messages when issues are detected.
  • Subscription Inquiry API: This service enables clients to check the subscription status of PANs. It returns whether the PAN is "Subscribed" or "Not Subscribed," or provides error codes and messages if any issues are identified.

2. Out-Bound Call back API:

  • Client (acquirers/processors) outbound API: The client, which includes acquirers and processors, is required to develop this API. This will enable VAU to transmit PAN updates to the client whenever a subscribed PAN is updated in VAU.

Retries: When a client’s system is not reachable, the VAU Push Subscribe Service will attempt retries every 4 hours for a period of 7 days. After retry period is over, the client should re-subscribe to receive the latest update.

Visa Account Updater VAU Push Subscribe Service can be used by the developers in the sandbox supporting acquirers or processors who are enrolled in VAU. The developers can download the test cases from the project dashboard within Assets.

To access the APIs in production, acquirers must be enrolled in VAU and provisioned with a VAU Segment ID. The API request will be validated with the segment id to ensure only valid acquirers or processors be able to use the service.

NOTE:  The test cases contain possible use test cases using sample PANs and can be used in the sandbox as is. Please reach out if you have any specific requirements that is not covered by the test case.

VAU Push Subscription APIs

Acquirers and processors can subscribe to a list of cardholder primary account numbers (PANs) using Subscription Creation API. Once subscribed, they will automatically receive updates using Outbound (Callback) API whenever an issuer provides a VAU update to Visa for those PANs.

Acquirers and processors can use Unsubscribe API to unsubscribe to a list (1-100) of cardholder PANs.

The VAU Subscription Inquiry API enables clients to check the subscription status of PANs. It returns whether the PAN is "Subscribed" or "Not Subscribed," or provides error codes and messages if any issues are identified.

The Client Outbound (callback) API will enable VAU to transmit PAN updates to the client whenever a subscribed PAN is updated in VAU.
