By connecting to the VETD API, third-party data providers may pass transaction data and cardholder information to Visa prior to authorization in real-time. Visa then passes select data to issuers via the Visa IDX mechanism by including it in Field 34 and/or Field 56 of the ISO 8583 authorization message. Issuers can use this data to detect more fraud and approve more legitimate transactions, thereby enhancing their authorization decisioning strategy in real-time.
The VETD API is intended for third-party data providers, including payment service providers and fraud prevention providers. This may include, but is not limited to, non-Visa entities that collect, aggregate, distribute, and leverage cardholder and transaction information to perform authentication and/or risk assessment in CNP environments.
