No Images of Text (VIS-WEB-004)

When text is presented in an image, assistive technologies cannot interpret the text.

To ensure that all text content is presented to all users, text should be presented using true text coded with HTML and CSS rather than images of text.

Requirements

No Images of Text (VIS-WEB-004-01)

Text MUST always be presented using live text and CSS rather than an image of text, except for logos and within pictures where it cannot be avoided (e.g., graphs or screenshots).

Test Procedures

Visual Inspection (VIS-WEB-004-01-T)

Using the mouse, click and drag over all text on the page to select it.
HTML text will be selectable. Text that is part of an image will show the entire image being highlighted.

Confirm that text is presented using text rather than in an image of text, except for logos and within pictures where it cannot be avoided (e.g., graphs or screenshots).
