Transaction Networks Basics

Transaction networks manage the traffic for all financial transaction messages. The burden on you to integrate with each network, manage network compliance, and settle with each network is costly and resource intensive. DPS Payment Account Solutions offers a single network connection to the most common networks, providing you with resources and cost savings.

Transaction networks manage the traffic for all financial transaction messages. The burden on financial institutions to integrate with each network, manage network compliance, and settle with each network is costly and resource intensive. DPS Forward offers a single network connection to the most common networks, providing you with resources and cost savings.

To process network transactions, DPS Forward translates ISO 8583 messages distributed by different networks into ISO 20022 messages. These messages are delivered via the ISO 20022 Transaction Services APIs, from which issuers can then consume the message and send an appropriate API response.

Depending on region, DPS Forward integrates with several networks, including but not limited to:

VisaNet (Debit, Credit)
Visa PLUS
Visa Interlink
Visa ATM
Visa ReadyLink
STAR
Maestro
Allpoint
Moneypass

For cash load networks that do not use the ISO 20022 APIs, such as Green Dot and InComm, refer to the Load Networks section.

Visa Direct

Visa Direct is a service offered to Visa cardholders enabling them to send and receive money on their payment cards. This service allows cardholders to perform person-to-person payments.

When the sender of funds uses a Visa account as the payment method for a money transfer, the originator may send an Account Funding Transaction (AFT) to the sender’s issuer to collect payment for the money transfer.

The loading of funds to a Visa payment card is sent to the recipient issuer with an Original Credit Transaction (OCT).DPS Payment Account Solutions, as the recipient issuer processor, may be required to accept AFT and OCT money transfer transaction types. Generally, non-government reloadable programs with Know Your Customer (KYC) information on file accept OCTs to their cards.

As the recipient issuer, you are entitled to manage authorization decisions on Visa Direct money transfer transactions. DPS Payment Account Solutions provides tools for you to manage the authorization decisions through alternate funding options, limits, thresholds, Watch List Scoring thresholds, and reporting.

Fast Funds

Fast Funds is an interchange program that encourages issuers to post Original Credit Transactions(OCTs) within 30 minutes. All DPS Payment Account solutions processing clients that accept OCT transactions are eligible for Fast Funds and the associated fee program.
