Diverse User Needs and Preferences (INT-WEB-011)
Build your product to support the widest range of user needs possible.
Allowing users to rely on their personally customized assistive technology setup and adjust settings provides the level of accessibility support they need.
People using assistive technology may require or prefer to use their device in a specific display orientation mode for a variety of reasons. Content should rotate and adapt to the user's selected device orientation unless a single orientation is required for the format of the content being displayed. When device sensors capture user or device motion as input there must be an equivalent method of interaction that doesn't require user or device motion. Providing UI controls which perform the same action as motion is required for this type of motion input and control.
Requirements
Flexible Orientation (INT-WEB-011-01)
Content adapts to the device orientation when orientation is changed from portrait to landscape
Motion Control (INT-WEB-011-02)
If functionality can be operated or activated by device or user motion then it can also be operated or activated through UI components AND motion actuation can be turned off to avoid unintentional activation by the user.
Test Procedures
Device Supporting Rotational Orientation (INT-WEB-011-01-T)
Set display orientation to each orientation mode (portrait and landscape) and review how the content responds. This can be done using OS settings (Start>Settings>System>Display) or inspecting the page in your browser and using the device list to change orientations.
Device Supporting Motion Control (INT-WEB-011-02-T)
For all functionality that can be operated or activated by moving the device or user motion input confirm that the same functionality can be operated or activated through UI components AND confirm that the motion actuation can be turned off by the user
